I have this rifle in 7mm Rem mag but it has a button on the side drop the mag.

the 270 win is resposible for the 270win's success. O'conner just kept writing about it because he liked that round so much.

The mag holds three shells for magnum calibers such as 300 win mag or 7mm rem mag.

@Firearms4Canada I never tried to load the whole mag through the top but putting one in and chambering it was no problem.

Didnt mean to hit enter, i wanted a detachable magazine but the only savage i could get is a top loading savage 111. Mrhotrod68 if you read this, im 14 and have the savage 111

@HopliteAlex I thought this rifle only came with a detachable box type magazine. Either way, this is a great rifle and I'm sure it will serve you well. Have a very Happy New Year!

@MrHotrod68 yes, with the correct training and you should work him up to the caliber. Don't just give this to him without first shooting a .22, then a .223 or something else in between. The .270 still has some kick, especially when sitting on the bench unless you have a weighted rest.
