Lucifer Drysuit

Along the ocean shores of Florida and Hawaii they ride across the water at high speed. Propelled by large kites and using special boards, these kitesurfers perform artistic jumps and bold flights that are breathtaking to watch. Kitesurfing emerged as a new sport from powerkiting, which uses the power of the wind, and is subdivided into many different interesting sub-disciplines. For most of its young devotees, kitesurfing signifies both a sport and lifestyle, and for the equipment designers, who work in close contact with their target market, it is a continuous challenge to create state-of-the-art products that meet the demanding needs of the athletes. Lucifer is a protective kitesurfing suit that aims at delivering the same functionality and performance as traditional drysuits. Although classic drysuits provide good impact-protection, they are not popular among kitesurfers as they are either too tight or too loose when wet. And since the target group also places great emphasis on appearance, this suit was designed with a new set of features. The jacket and pants are joined at the waist in order to conceal the back side of the protective harness: it is not only kept safely in place, but also can withstand strong forces when the rider is being lifted into the air. In order to permanently join the two parts of the suit, they were stitched together and further strengthened by applying heat-sealed seam tape over the top. The issue of perfect fit is solved by having a looser and more comfortable fit around the leg, arm and neck areas and a tighter fit around the harness area. At the same time, the design allows graphics to be separately printed on the jacket and pants for more individual design options. Thus designed, Lucifer is an authentic suit that offers young athletes protection and freedom of movement for comfortable riding.
