This is the Carousel from the House on the Rock in Spring Green Wisconsin. It was also mentioned in Neil Gaiman's book American Gods.
Information:
The Carousel was first revealed in 1981. It is the largest carousel in history. There are over 20,000 lights and of the 269 carousel creatures there is not a single horse! This carousel is 35 feet tall, 80 feet wide and weighs 35 tons.

  • I agree with the answers that consider this carousel is a bit creepy, it's the bloody music (I know it's a bit of a pun).

  • @DrBCorwen Yes it is a bit creepy, but in a cool way IMO. Also the music is quite LOUD in person!

  • how big is it and why was there only three people on it?

There are no people on it (no 'real' people anyway.) They don't allow anyone to ride it unfortunately. Probably because the animals are old and fragile.

  • If you all will take note: There is "NOT" one horse on this carousel,......The "House on the Rock" is a very strange & interesting place to visit.

  • WOW, Just Like In American Gods!!!

  • @chicagocanine I agree with it as well, the organ seems to add to its appeal. Also the carousel appears to be moving a little too slow. By the way do you know any wood carvers with the carousel construction experience?

  • If you're sensitive to motion the way I am, if you stand on the railing, after a few moments it will genuinely feel like YOU'RE the one spinning around the carousel. It's an excellent feeling!

  • I saw this carousel at HOTR. Very cool.

  • I went here a lot when I was little, and I was always disappointed that we weren't allowed on the carousel.

  • oh wow that is really big

  • Kind of eerie.

  • @ruloaas Well, there's Rock City of course!

  • I saw that it was amzaing

my fave part was the streets of yesterday though

and the worst part was the doll house room

    but yeah it was awesome
