I wrote this song over a period of time with different events and emotions from the past and present, eventually merging into a single "fictional" story.
Here's the words:
Monsoon Skies by Lawrence Trust
Monsoon skies over Tucson who would o' thought it could be true
Monsoon skies over Tucson who would o' thought it could be true
A hundred days no drop of rain and now there's not a trace of blue
You left balmy Tucson saying you'd be back some sunny day
You left muggy Tucson you said that you be back some sunny day
Now there's no sun in Tucson and you're so very far away
The hot west wind and dust devils come whirlin from Calexico
Then muggy days and monsoon nights come sweepin up from Mexico
The Thunder claps and lightning flashes echo in my brain
How can it be that you are gone and Tucson still remains
Oh heartache doom This monsoon gloom could drive a man insane
Monsoon skies over Tucson who would o' thought it could be true
Monsoon skies over Tucson who would o' thought it could be true
A hundred days no drop of rain and now there's not a trace of blue
Gloom lies over Tucson guess it will always be this way
Gloom lies over Tucson guess it will always be this way
Now there's no sun in Tucson with you so very far away
thats me, btw, danny
