In this sewing video tutorial I show you how to make cloth wipes. I focus on 2 different sewing techniques- 1) using a serger, 2) using a regular home sewing machine, using the stitch, turn, and topstitch method.

These cloth wipes are made using 2 cotton flannel squares that measure 9" square and are great for wiping babies' bottoms, mouths, hands, faces, etc. I make them out of 2 layers of cotton flannel so that they are more absorbent and protect my hand from diaper messes. These cloth wipes can be used for anything you want and are great to keep stashed away in your purse or car glove compartment.

  • One more question, I have flannel and terry cloth that I was planning on sewing together. I tried using it the other night with just water but fuzzies from the material got on little one's bum. I washed the material before sewing. Do you have this problem? Is my material not 'quality' enough? I bought from Joann's Fabrics and it is just terry cloth and cotton flannel. Just wondering what I may be doing wrong?

  • @trentsjulz08 I have bought terry cloth at Joann's before and I hate it. It just peels off like nothing. So I don't use that for the cloth wipes. Is it happening with the flannel too? Because usually after the first wash you are good to go. Maybe you can find some better quality stuff online. Hope that helps.

  • do you have to worry about poo getting caught in the middle of the two layers of the wipes?? Or everything comes clean when washed.

  • @trentsjulz08 If you give it a good wash you shouldn't have a problem. Especially if the baby is exclusively breast fed. It washes right out.

  • Helped me bunches! Thanks!

  • @slavetowhim Glad I could help! Thanks!

  • im going to make these out of an old baby blanket...

    reuse and reduce :)

  • @caityrose517 Great tip! Thanks for sharing! :o)

  • I do a really wide stitch on the outside because I think it helps keep the wipe from bubbling and becoming messy when using.

  • @cassiebrite awesome to hear! What a fun mother-daughter bonding time! :o)
