Makes me very proud to be Irish.

I've checked all the versions of this song on YouTube--This is undoubtedly the best--No frills, Just a lovely song. Thanks.

@Brill39e I checked quite a couple aswell - I guess I wasn't even for this kind of style, if I was looking for any - and I guess ur right. Everyting goes together well here, there are many shallow recordings around.

amazing. been listening to this since I was a young child and it was released.

Thanks a coupleof people told me, that's so sad, can't believe I didn't hear about it! I guess they're all together again now up in music heaven
-
Sorry to say - Liam has left us also, a few months ago. The music lives on.
-
I read his obit in the Guardian in December 2009. 74 I believe he was. Sorry.

@sadoldemilio Liam Clancy is still with us, I sawh him last year in Kilkenny, and still performing. I love this version of the song best, simple and very effective

They aren't gone, they will always be here they will!
Let us keep our Irish spirit and pride, they wouldn't want us to mourn them too much.
But a word of honor needs to be said.
Rest in peace my friends, you shall always be remembered. I wont be sad, happy I shall stay brothers.

I agree that the live performance was better. I understand that we have lost Liam Clancy recently and that the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem are all gone now. They will live on in our memories.

A simple song of love should be sung simply - like this (preferably by a man who can convince us he is talking of his experience). There are enough liede around for the vocal gymnasts.I like the inclusion of AE Houseman's poem. The similarities are striking.

hahahaha, no problem my friend ;D
