I actually think its better than Kickassia, it seems to have a deeper plot, but then I don't go into that deep a level of criticy stuff :D
What you have to admit is that these guys made something that is far better than most fan made stuff :D

However, no one noticed that hole in the plot, or any of the other holes, even though they review bad movies and games on a regular basis using logic and wit. They should have realized that a few story elements made no sense (for example, the Nostalgia Critic somehow knew about weakness of the antagonist despite not having any way of knowing that) and changed it. They have to be smart people in order to review movies and games with logic, so they look dumb if they make that kind of story mistake

The problem with this movie is the fact that the plot is engaging and the ending. Because the plot is engaging, you want to take it seriously, despite the fact it's a comedy. It's fine since they do make lots of jokes, but by the end, you expect them to use their heads and take the story seriously as well. The ending could have been completely averted if one of the cast attacked the antagonist during his clash with Ma-ti. Ma-ti wouldn't have died, and they couldn't be held responsible if he did.

1 thing I thought is that it's between the rough low budget film style of kickassia and a truly cinematic film. this made it feel bland as it didn't have that they're trying with what little they have feel but it didn't have that high budget company kind of comedy. it's still not bad but again, the rough around the edges charm that was in kickassia is lacking without replacing it with a new kind of charm (with the high budget cinema feel really being the only option)

I disagree i found this alot more enjoyable then kickassia, i like the story better but then again that's because i like fantasy elements alot, but hey you have your own opinon and i respect that

Thank you for posting this review. You said so much of what I've been feeling about SK lately!

You know, I like you Martialhorror. If you were some stuck-up 33 year old like Asalieri, you'd be cursing and bitching about how bad the movie, but you don't do that. I myself didn't like Suburban Knights but I do hope to see what your thoughts on the rest of the movie are.

very nice said keep it up mate

Thumbs up to you. Kickassia was better, but I like how this actually created its own mythology. Plus it's got me into the mood for LARPing. If only I liked other people enough to actually have friends.
I agree - only thing I would really add to this part is that... the tension is introduced FAR too late.. (end of part 4)
With Kickassia, when the jokes or bits fell flat, I personally didn't care because I was invested in the story - which was pretty solid. When you don't have dramatic tension - even in a comedy - all that happens is that the jokes that don't work REALLY start to draw attention to themselves.

I disagree, I actually disliked the attempt at drama with Santa Christ, I thought it was way too melodramatic for its own good (granted, that was the point) but I thought the dramatic finale of Suburban Knights was actually better.

@shinobiflare there's going to be a lot of disagreeing. For me, I guess with the Santa Christ gag, it always felt funny and was funny because it was being dramatic, whereas the ending of SK felt like it was genuinely trying to be dramatic(albeit having funny parts in it). But it's something I'm struggling to explain.....One worked on me, one didn't.

@MartialHorror
I think Santa Christ worked for you while the SK Drama didn't was because it was faux drama. It was a scene that came right out of nowhere and knew that ("well gee that's sad") and never really had a focus on the drama as it wasn't even that big a point despite how much time was spent on it. SK tried to actually do it seriously and if you didn't care for the story then that point was something you couldn't care about either. That's how I see it at least.
