Story: http://galfromdownunder.blogspot.com/2010/11/ka-mate-ka-mate-nz-rugby-stars-i...
Ka mate, ka-mate! Snippets from a fundraiser (including the haka!) at the offices of Saatchi & Saatchi NYC featuring former All Blacks Michael Jones and Frano Botica, and New Zealand Rugby League legend Tawera Nikau. Organized by Saatchi head honcho Kevin Roberts and Sarah Smith. Thanks to Rugby fan Irene Fong for dragging this "not specifically a rugby fan" along! The lamb chops were wicked.

Sarah Smith talks more about the project (in a delightful Kiwi accent):

  • huh?

  • i dont get this!!!

  • As always, a well-covered event that gains breadth from the addition of your unique perspective. While other journalists would lump all street fights together, you understand what makes rugby different, namely that it includes a ball.

  • Those guys are pretty funny. A real contrast with American sports personalities.

  • Great job Lynette. I am heading back to California on Saturday and am all pumped up to watch some local rugby--UCD or Cal. Thanks for getting me excited.

  • Love it Lynette :-)

  • Fun interview. I liked the Michael Jones story about the Torpedo toward the end ("somebody's gotta go backwards, and it's normally me"). Another great capture, Lynette!

  • I found myself smiling and remembering my wonderful encounter with one particular 'All Black' ...he also said "a ...game played by gentlemen' ...and by example he was indeed a Gentleman

...the acceptance moment where 'Kevin' touched his nose to the others nose reminded me of the Maouri tradition of 'greeting'

thank-you for this wonderful snapshot that sent me on a delightful dance down memorylane : )
