Was lucky kid (age 7 to 17) who spent countless hours swimming at Birchwood Beach & our own beach 100 years to the north (Carl Sandburg home).
We were among the "clay kids" plus sitting on logs fishing sucker on many spots along the creek up to about a mile upstream.
We kids damned the creek near Lake Michigan dozens of times - then built sand villages - broke the dam & watched town wash away.
Plus bonfires/teen fun.
No change from late 60s- thru 1970s
