After more than a year in quarantine undergoing successful treatment for TB, Misty's big day finally arrived: she was released to go meet her new herd. What a surprise when Misty realized one of the elephants was an old friend she had not seen since they had performed together in the circus many years ago. Delhi and Misty shared a tender reunion and have been inseparable ever since. For more information about The Elephant Sanctuary please visit http://www.elephants.com

  • Do the elephants' weights change, or do they stay the same?

    Please write back. Thanks.

  • @ThePowerofElephants Their weights can fluctuate a little. Caregivers can adjust their diet accordingly, but is only a concern if it's a sudden, extreme weight gain or loss, just as with any animal or human.

  • I wish I was a giant so I could pick Misty up and cradle her. I love how she walks through the branches. She appears to be very pleased with herself. I also love how happy she is with the truck. It's as if she recognizes it as the truck that brought her to the Sanctuary. I'm sure she's travelled in many trucks in less than desireable conditions, but obviously she can distinguish between the bad old days and the trucks of her life now.

  • Instead of giving each other gifts this year for Christmas, my sisters and I have decided to donate to a charity of our choice in each others' name. I choose the Elephant Sanctuary for my gift as I will again next year. Why didn't we think of this sooner? These lovely ladies are so deserving.

  • gotta love an elephant. That lucky woman in this video . I feel deprived that I never got the chance to walk along side such a magnificant elephant. I could just kiss them all over!!!!! But I question as to how she contracted T.B. in the first place. I'm glad she's OK now.

  • These beautiful elephants are more human than we are. Just beautiful.

  • Beautiful Misty...she is so large yet so gentle, loving, affectionate, and playful. I enjoy reading about her progress in the Asian Ele-Diary. I think, though, that it would be great to keep updating each elephant's individual diaries. Unfortunately, there are so many elephants to care for, so that's hard!

I am glad Misty was not sent to a Zoo. She has the best home at the Elephant Sanctuary.

  • Misty is such a beautiful, loving elephant. It's almost like I know her. I hope that if I ever become a caregiver at the Sanctuary, Misty will be there and like people! I have become fond of Misty - she is jolly, large, and playful. What's not to love? I love the work of the Elephant Sanctuary.

  • Oh, that made me cry. So sweet.

I'm very happy that these elephants have a place to go and live out the rest of their lives in peace and comfort.

  • @Loves10s That is sweet
