What a stunning debut! For a teenager to have written, and performed with such maturity - wow! I sincerely wish she was still around, but in a way, I'm also thankful that she got her start back in the '60s - when actual talent was what was in demand - she was never forced to use autotune software, or had to dress up like a mighty morphin' power ranger to get people's attention. Man, I wish I had a time machine!

@ldeleon337 True, but as there IS a Hall of Fame, don't you think her talent deserves to be recognised in such? Especially considering who else is in there.

I love this song and her 1969 live at Kraft Music Hall version of Save the Country.
Laura Nyro would be 64 this year had she lived.

Re: elirosen1391 --before Lady Gaga's transformation, with her long dark hair, playing piano, image-wise, she reminded me a bit of Laura, for whatever that's worth. Meanwhile, it's music like Laura's that is timeless and touches the heart. It remains to be seen how Lady Gaga's work holds up over time.
