Nice video. I wish that it were longer. I never made it up to the pass. A storm turned us back.

I took the Yankee Boy Basin approach to Sneffels but then branched off to the left and did the SW ridge route, which allowed the view of Blue Lakes. There is a surprise natural arch about 500 vertical feet from the summit. Either route from Yankee Boy will require a helmet, crampons & an ice axe - even in July. You can always summit a 14er! I've seen people in their 70s doing a Class 4. Go for it!

@iclimb14ers Thanks for the info! I made it w. friends to the saddle of the Yankee Boy Basin approach, back in August 2006. But we had gotten a late start; approaching thunderstorms convinced us to turn around :)

Beautiful! So nice to see a back country video professionally done in HD & with a tripod. We're heading there in three weeks. First learned about it while looking down from Mt. Sneffels & made a mental note someday I would return with my family.

@iclimb14ers thanks for the kind words! I'd like to get back to that area sometime this summer.
Which approach did you take to Sneffels? Any advice for someone still hoping to summit a 14er?

Thanks for watching!
Weather turned a group of us back from Sneffels in 2006. I might have tried it from the Blue Lakes pass this year -- saw a couple of others do it -- but this time fatigue stopped me :)
