  • but like i said the mechanics chek the fuel and spark and drove it and nothing happen my car hasent shut off in a while but if i drive it for like 30 or 40 minutes im sure it will the idlle drops and raises

  • @lariosmike1 If it doesn't start after it dies is the perfect time to check it. There is no way anyone can tell what is wrong from what you are saying and be reasonable accurate. Can the crank sensor cause your symptoms? Yes. Can i say that is what is causing it without at least knowing if you have spark or not No.

  • but they said that it could be the crank shaft but the computter said it was working fine

  • @lariosmike1 How about at the moment of failure? That is why you have to be testing it when it failing! If you have a labscope or a full scan tool they will also work. However, from what you said I felt you probably did not have these tools. So i gave you an alternative method, that works well.

You can also call me if you like 1-800-558-9770 press 3 and ask for me 7 AM - 7 PM CST

  • i have the same grand prix and it shut off while driving only some times when i drive it for like 30 minutes i took it 2 mechanics and they cant find nothing with the car the only thing it has is a random miss fire in cylender 4 and i changed the harmonic balancer but not the crank shat sensor any idea what it can be cuz i really want to fix it its been like thiz for like 4 monts

  • @lariosmike1 The crank sensor is common to cause an intermittent shut down on your vehicle. However, I would check it first. First check to see if you are losing spark or fuel when it cuts out. Connect a timing light and a fuel pressure gauge where you can see them as you drive. If the pressure drops off and the engine dies you have a fuel delivery issue.

  • when it dies some times the car dosent want to start i have to wait like about 7 minutes and it will start again but just for a moment it like if something in the car would get hot and shut off and it all started when the harmonic balancer broke into 2 pieces

  • they check the fuel pressure and said that it was fine they couldnt get the car to shut off and the computter said that the crank shaft was good

  • @stephen65la I am glad we could help you out with the video. I wish you would have installed a Wells Part, but that is OK.
