The nucleus of this USA group was originally known as the Nomads. Mike Shapiro (lead guitar), Jack Shelton (rhythm guitar), Steve Leidenthal (bass) and Dave Lovell (organ) were active in Palo Alto, California, USA, when they were "discovered" by budding impresario "Professor" Vern Justus. He renamed them William Penn and His Pals, replacing Lovell with Gregg Rolie and adding Neil Holtmann (vocals) and Ron Cox (drums). Modelling themselves on Paul Revere And The Raiders, with matching leather uniforms, the band played in a hard, rocking style similar to the Dave Clark Five- MusicUS
