great 3-point landing btw

This airplane is really something else. It's able to go into these strips because there are no Accel-Stop Distance charts published for them (because they didn't exist in 1949). I have 200 hours on this plane and almost packed it in leaving Kasba Lake. We used every single foot of runway and still had to milk the flaps to get us and 15,000lbs of equipment out of there. Great experience though.

Thanks for not giving into the temptation of playing the initial music throughout the entire video sequence. It's great to hear the sound of one of these C-46's.

Wow, that was a great 3 point landing. Beleive me, not easy on a C-46. I have over 200 hours on the right side as my father was a capt. in Dominican Republic as well as my brother (look up AMSA airlines in Dominican Republic).

A C-46 delivered two B-29 engines to a B-29 (on September 11, 1945) that was shot down by Soviet Yak fighters over northern Korea on August 29, 1945. Read more about the downing of the "Hog Wild" by Googling "The Flight of the Hog Wild."

In the 60's I was a crew chief, responsible for taking 13,000 lbs off and putting 13,000 lbs back on in 90 minutes. Military cargo on civilian a/c. I have seen these planes bounce on all 3 wheels when landing on New Years Eve and the pilots had celebrated too much. I respect the a/c and the pilots, but I hated loading it.

Brave old high altitude beast after flying over the Hialayan Hump to supply China from India during WWII.
