Its a cover of a Leonard Cohen song.2.It doesn't question God.The first verse refers to king David,who was made king by his absolute faith in God.The 2nd is a ref to the story of Samson.His strength came from his faith. The basis is the saving grace of faith.Look to the original for answers,not a cover.As well, know that there are multiple versions performed by L.C. that have different layouts. Listen to them all. :)

but the point im making is that those who say its nothing about god are false.
because as you say god is questioned in it so therefor it plays a part no?... it seems quite obvious. im not saying this song is all about god and the fact he is loved and what not im saying he dose play a part in the song.
so its totally false to say its nothing to do with Christianity/god/whatever!
also take a look at the context hallelujah is used in cause its not used in the context your saying.

in response to all the comments saying this is a christian song... its not. many of the lyrics have Judeo/christian elements but in the second to last verse he isnt sure if there even is a God. Mostly this song is a love song to some unknown woman.

lmao!! are you aware this is sung by a very openly gay man? and i have to agree w/ Avaboxcar...in this song, the existence of god is definitely questioned.
p.s. maybe "hallelujah" does mean praise the lord, but people just kind of use it as an expression now...as in "hallelujah! it finally stopped raining!"

awesome im a christian as well. thx. for ur comment on chris crocker and yes he is defenitely not the new christ. I'll make another vid but, really in this one I really was mad because I had friends who died there so I almost cried. and yay we're the same age lolz!

Aww i'm so sorry about your friends i'll pray for you and them i didn't know anyone who died in 9/11 but my uncle joined the army a few months after and fought in the war after that and now my cousin might join it too and it pains me to see someone whould say something like that about those people.
