Why doesn't anyone ever quote these words by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.?

  • @CAM8689 Your comment was right on point! The hardest working person in america works 3 jobs and will never be well off. The "if you only work harder" ploy is one used by white conservatives and parroted by "negro lawn jockeys". If the person you are referring to would read such books as "The working poor" by David K Shipler, they would perhaps be less inclined to make classic uncle tom pitches.

  • @Thekingmyboy96 and also because he is telling black people to be proud of who and what they are might sound a bit to similar to somethings Malcolm X has said.

  • @Thekingmyboy96 speak for yourself and not your race I know plenty of black people that do work and work hard and still find it hard to make ends meet save your inaccurate generalizations right out of right wing talking points for another group.

  • @SAVETHECHILDREN6592 Let me type slow for you. If I attack you on the streets without provocation, logic rules in your favor that I'm in the wrong. But by your logic I am equally a victim because in the past I've also attacked myself. So since I've beaten myself up, you have no argument about me beating you up because I've been equally victimized. If people of Europe enslaved people of Europe, how does that excuse Europe's actions against people outside of Europe?

  • @yazooize phetuses arent people

  • I Love you. This is the work of God ,that ye Believe on him whom he hath sent.John 6:29 (what will it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul .(we have work for over 400 years )What do we have nothing ! Now hebrew israelite of 28Deut68 come turn too your God YA and work for him he is your life Not America G.D.America.(you are his be holy for he is Holy.

  • Because my race does not want to get off its ass and work. That is why it is never quoted. My people take offense to stuff being told to work and make their own way. I may not be the most successful black guy, but I sure won't live off welfare checks

  • I Love you. The (number 1 Killer )of Black people is the black woman thur Abortion .Fact

  • Great question,

Extremely relevant for the time. Think about one issue he took on such as Bus Segregation. It would be easy to get frustrated. his visions and strategies always evolved. He grew stronger and more popular by promoting peace.

My favorite speech was, "I've Been to the Mountain Top" (particularly the last 3 min) Delivered the day before his assassination. Find it, study it. Dr. King loved you! So much that he wanted you to see the promised land -even if he didn't make it with you.

  • @PrisonerNumber9653 Furthermore, you are wrong to assert that "ANY setting" of poverty, white or black, will be exactly the same. I grew up in what many would call a rural "white trash" mobile home court. I didn't see the same squalor, littering, vandalism, crime, and rudeness to strangers. People didn't have much, but they made the best of what they had.

I don't think it's a white/black thing, nor is it a poverty/wealth thing. I think it is an issue of cultural decline.
