I was 15 in the summer of 1989, and this was such a departure from the Adam West TV series and various Batman TV series, especially the Superfriends/Hall of Justice stuff. I doubt if the Christian Bale 'Dark Knight' films could have been made without these ones laying the groundwork.

What i loved about Jack Nicholson's joker is that he was having fun with the role and you could tell.Heath ledgers was good and what i liked about his was that he was a insane and genius the bad thing about his joker is that he was so serious and rarely made a joke compared to Jack Nicholson's.If only they could somehow find the perfect way of mixing both portrayals into one in the next reboot (which we know will eventually happen).

Tim Burton's Batman should have been more like animated series. Yes, this is also a fantasy Batman, but Batman in this movie killed people, Bruce Wayne was small and skinny faggot and such. It also had a fat old grandpa Joker with backstory, ugh. I mean Burton or who ever wrote this got it all wrong. It may have visual look, but it wasn't Batman.

I think I'm getting old. 29 years old and I watch these trailers with such nostalgia. It's like everything was so much better back then. Now it's just violent entertainment, In the good old days batman was art. I love the first ones, Batman and Batman returns are so much better than all the others in my own opinion.

I was afraid to being the only one who loved Jack Nicholson's even more than Heath Ledger's Joker. Jack Nicholson's was more complex.

The thing about this movie i don't get is Batman's 1 rule. No killing. He kills like 50 people in this movie.

This trailer was revolutionary at the time, and the TV ads were the same. No voice-over and not even the title. That logo was so ubiquitous in the spring and summer of 1989. It seemed like every other person was wearing a Batman shirt. I haven't seen anything like that since, no matter how popular a movie has been. Add to that an overall sense of excitement and satisfaction for the other big movies that summer and you have what will always be the best movie summer ever.
