  • The questions are ones that are commonly asked of gay people, just turned on their head. "How do you know that you're gay if you've never slept with a person of a different gender?" and "When did you first realize you were gay?" are asked all the time, so it's an obvious spoof of the way people question gays. The questionnaire was no doubt designed to get students to think more deeply about these issues and generate debate.

  • Rachel Maddow is so right on this issue. Keeping teenagers who, in a few years will be adults, ignorant about what their fellow classmates are going through doesn't do them any favors. Also, talking about an issue and trying to evoke empathy for people who deal with the issue on a regular basis isn't "pushing an agenda" because as a teacher, you are obligated to prepare students to live in the world with other people, not abide by whatever their parents party lines are.

  • "Are they going to make the case against gay rights? Because there is such a case" Wtf? This seems like one of those times you could replace the word gay with racial group and it is so obviously bigoted, so why is okay to say about gay rights?

  • @graceleehm It's still propaganda. Propaganda means that there is communication aimed at changing someone's attitude. If it's a fact it should be said as a fact. If it's a controversy to discuss, both sides should be presented. Similarly there's no need to do an exercise to empathize for blacks because we aren't trying to convince any reasonable person to agree with black rights. I totally agree with gay rights, but pretending like this isn't propaganda is just silly.

  • Rachel is the realness and ole' Tucker is a fearful guy who likes to argue. These are civil rights. I hope in the future we will all look back on those who stood in the way and say they were just like dime a dozen racists.

  • Walk a mile in straight people's shoes, Maddow! ...I could assist, if needed.

  • @daedae69

You didn't...know? She mentions it (when relevant) ALL the time! Lol

  • Damn rachels gay!?...there goes my chances!

  • Tucker Carlson is a moron

  • This was remarkably frustrating... it seems so many Americans are prudish, its unbelievable :s I've also seen this questionnaire. It's not meant to actually be answered anyways... it simply takes many of the questions heterosexuals pose to homosexuals (such as the ones you heard above, "when did you decide to be homosexual, what caused it, etc.) and reverses them for heterosexuals. The outrage is because being put in such a position is very likely to make one realise the fallacy of homophobia!

  • IT IS ABOUT SEX = wow ...FACT. please someone agree with me.. its a fucking god damned fact... homosexuality? its about sex? its about sexual attraction? nothing else?! gay people arent different BESIDES THERE FUCKING SEXUALITY? wow

    maddow admit facts.. wow... childish.

  • @gkent101 You are an idiot it actually amazes me how fucking stupid you are.Are you doing it on purpose or does it come naturally?Btw your moms expertise is dick and between me and you shes WAY over paid.
