AVC-Intra is Panasonics advanced implementation of H.264 expressly designed for professional HD production, and available in Panasonic P2 HD Camcorders and Workflow Tools. AVC-Intra is a professional intra-frame codec with bit rates of 50 and 100Mb/s, utilizing the Hi-10 and Hi-422 profiles of H.264 respectively. AVC-Intra provides highly-efficient intra-frame 10-bit encoding in two modes: 100 Mbps, the highest recording quality available for a one-piece camcorder (comparable to D-5 HD video quality) and AVC-Intra 50 Mbps for exceptional high image quality at a lower data rate. AVC-Intra processes the entire image within the boundaries of each video field or frame. There is zero dependence between adjacent frames, so AVC-Intra image quality stands up well to motion and editing

  • AVC-Intra compression is superior to AVCHD compression. Panasonic also markets a camera like the Canon -- the GH1. P2 cards keep coming down in price, while going up in capacity. A 16Gb P2 card costs $420. Ferrari's cost $420 these days? Our AVCCAM video camcorders that also records in AVCHD on SD cards. Beautiful video (with video camera features) on the same media as the Canon. AVC-Intra recording is superior to Canon camera. We market cameras with both compression schemes.

  • Hard to tell the difference when this video is not HD to begin with.. but it was good never the less..

  • @edgecosta Stupid isn't it...

  • 0:48, i was thinking: "threesome?"

  • I am not pretty sure that this technology looks like 32bit lossless file (which is fuuuuuuge) but it's obvious that it's good enough to zoom 2x and more without seeing artifacts and it's kind'a sharp and motion-friendly :> I hope this is a free codec and I could make some tests with it (I mean just for enxoding, the cam's great!)

  • why do you post videos with low quality? it's almost impossible to view the comparissons. i dont understand this!

  • @Ikarus2punkt0 You have the wrong idea. This is not comparing two cameras, it compares two codecs. My guess is that they have full uncompressed raw data and ran it through each codec. This is a more fair comparison than two different angles, since you're feeding the codec exactly the same raw data. I hope that clears it up...

  • Hey there,

how can you compare two images and tell that on the left ist the HDCAM (or what ever you exampled) when the immage has absolutly no shift from foreground to backbround... the cameras has to be slitly shifted to the left (or right...) so that the image should have diferent angels...

or did you just used one camera and the lowerd the quallity like you asume to be the XY-whatever-codec... then you should used the time you spend on this "fancy"-video to play with yout kids.. or so...
