my experience before, during, and then after the eye of hurricane katrina rolled past in gulfport, ms. the song is called "the vanishing" by A Perfect Circle. we spent "the day after" in what was left of downtown Gulfport. then we made our way west on the north side of lake ponchetrane (sp?) there was no way into N.O. from any direction but the west. we made our way to the airport in New Orleans and stayed there for three days. we then moved into downtown New Orleans for the next three and a half weeks. if some images go by too fast in the video, so was my personal experience with that subject (i.e. the car rides daily from new orleans to baton rouge. around 80 miles in a little less than four hours.....traffic was horrible. the memories are few, however, so pics go by faster.) conversely, if the image sticks around for a while, so are the images in my own memory of the subjects in the pictures. (i.e. bodies at airport, convention center, the hurricane itself ((first and last picture))...) people at the end are co-workers of mine during the media coverage that we supplied. the only program i had to make this was my "windows movie maker" program, but please be honest if you decide to rate this. thank you for watching, and reading. if you can relate in any way and want to contact me, you can do so at cbscarnkc@hotmail.com

  • should have done it to when the levee breaks

  • @zearlina absolutely considered it, but oddly enough, it seemed to slow to convey the gravity of what I had witness in the 24 hours prior to Katrina, and the 30 days that followed. "the vanishing" was much more appropriate for my personal experience. thank you for your thoughts.

  • my ex lives in amite louisiana, its a couple miles north of new orleans. they got hit hard. we were dating at the time, and when it hit i didnt hear from her for nearly 3 weeks, im living in arkansas

  • i understand. luckily we had two satellite phones that worked for us. we also had a line around the block (literally) of people that just wanted to call loved ones and let them know they were alive. we probably helped over a hundred people get through to family at a time when every cell tower and land line phone service was OUT. crazy time...

  • nolas people are are creative, vital, and under duress. the rest of this nation has been riding on their collective backs since slavery if oil revenues were assigned according to texas' and CA's apportion, LA would be a kuwait they deserve better

  • Why would you sully such a great song from a great band with a cesspool like New Orleans? New Orleans was a fucking slum before Katrina, glad it washed it away.

  • by definition, all circles are perfect.

  • Wow.....

  • I love APC and Louisiana. My moms from there!

  • APC**
