RIP Gerry Rafferty (1947-2011). This is a beautiful song Gerry wrote for his mother in the wake of his dad's passing. It seems appropriate to share it now, and I hope it will provide a wee bit of comfort to Gerry's many fans.
Simply beautiful, and the mark of just how wonderful Gerry Rafferty was. An amazing thou complex man, but genius allows it. God luv you, Gerry miss your music an my biggest regret is that I never got to see you perform live maybe because you were a difficult bugger?!!!!
Gerry at his most poignant and haunting (especially in this version). I'm just one of the masses saddened by his passing. I once led the applause at the Hammersmith Apollo in '93 when he walked on in darkness with his band, and he gave me a thumbs up ! It was the closest I got to meeting him, but it was a proud moment.
still here. loving this. XXXXX

Discovering Gerry this weekend via a tribute TV programme. Strange isn't it how we discover the brilliance of someone after their passing!

The song is a tribute to his mother. His father wasn't the best! Hopefully his mother heard this song.
