Things change...

Far, far away, amongst the rice fields, tucked away in a simple yet intriguing corner of a sparsely populated village on the edge of the Japan Sea, in Northern Akita was a house. A house that sat quietly and peacefully. A house that lived during a bygone era. A house that stands no more.

  • Why did you tear your house down?

  • Due to the declining population, migration of young people from the country to the cities, and no new renters the owner of the property decided to raze the house; it would be cheaper than paying the structure taxes year after year.

  • The train went past 8 times a day! :) i even have the sounds recorded some place in mini-disc....

  • so cool for me to see this, also. faccendasan there is one of my dearest friends. i never got to visit where he was living during that time, but our correspondence was such that i pictured him daily in ad hoc-y scenes with no reference to any images actually rooted in reality. this helps a lot. i didn't remember there were train tracks. :) thanks.

  • I lived in this house for 2 years, from 01' to 03'. Thank you for this beautiful video, Kevin. It's closure i needed...
