A friend gave me this song on a tape years ago. I didn't know the name or the group so I posted it on YouTube, and nednickerson2009 found it for me. Thank you Robert.
The Paradise Street Band was together for about 7 years in the 80's. The band consisted of Jim Hinton, who can be heard on this track playing guitar and singing harmony vocal. Also in the group were Theresa Rochelle, (penny whistle, lead vocal) Patrick Espinoza, (keyboard, harmony vocal) and Catherine Espinoza, (harp, harmony vocal). You can also hear their longtime friend, Chris Vitas, (now of Keltic Karma) playing violin. After TheParadise Street Band broke up, some of the members reformed as The Strange Woods. www.strangewoods.com
The budgie is seven year old Gusty, my sweetie.
@FussPuss I loved Drowsy Maggie's, I could take my children for a meal, then sit with them and listen to the band for hours. My kids are now in their 20's, but they still remember cuddling up with me & listening to the music...my youngest daughter is named from one of Jim's songs. I am thankful for all of the great memories. I hope your cassette has fared better than mine...I wish I could get another copy from them. I did get a copy of "Another Night in Paradise" years ago, but not the other.

The Strange Woods will be performing March 20th Concert at Summit Fellowship in Santee. 7p.m. $15, such a bargain! It is a rare show with the four of them. I like this version of Sit Down Together. Hi Steve!

A little more information, Chris Vidas played the violin on this recording and some others. He sat in once awhile but wasn't a regular member of PSB tho.

Paradise Street Band consisted of Jim and his wife Theresa, Theresa's brother Pat and his wife Cathy. After they split to pursue other interests I started playing with Jim and Theresa at Drowsy Maggies and we later evolved into Strange Woods. I left the group after a few years but still enjoy the music.

i worked as a waitress at drowsy maggies many, many years ago. that's where i first heard them. i still have the one lone cassette recording of their music from way back when. i was returning to the usa from an overseas tour of duty at the same time drowsy maggies closed. i misse that restaurant. oh, well. i'm glad to know the band's new name as the strange woods so i can get a few more recordings of their music.

I went to see the Paradise Street Band perform on several occasions when they were a group. I was always moved, and ALL of their tunes are fantastic.

A little more info: The song was written by Theresa Rochelle-Ross and Jim Hinton in the late 70's when they were members of a quartet called The Paradise Street Band. Later, they formed a new group The Strange Woods and recorded the song again for their first album "Transparency." The new recording has an instrumental break that is different from the version heard in this video. Two CDs from The Strange Woods are still available at CDbaby(dot)com and strangewoods(dot)com GREAT Celtic music.
