In Search for Figure, sculptor Marc Lancet traces the inspirations and influences that animate his figurative sculpture. Starting with indiginous cultures 30,000 years ago, Lancet draws examples from around the world of expressive abstract figure sculpture. He links this indiginous sculpture to the emergence of abstract figure sculpture in Western Europe at the turn of the 20th century and then to the Bay Area Figurative Art Movement of San Francisco, California. Lancet pays tribute to his inspiration in his own work which completes this presentation. All in under 5 minutes. The film was composed by Monique Rutherford.
