  • Hey- Q for you: I think I'm a Soft Summer. While I do love teals, raspberries, and gray tones- I'm a little bummed to hear that I'll only look good in monochromatic and neutral ensembles! Where's my drama? Could I not just sub out the colors for something like the Bright Winter or Spring Colors, with higher saturation and more contrast? And if I DO want to stay in the Soft Summer range, how can I get an exciting look that still works? What about the bold geometric patterns that I love? Thanks!

  • @Sbeth85 Thanks for your inquiry. Are you sure that you're a Soft Summer? You should definitely have an in-person, professional color analysis at some point to be sure. If you are a Soft Summer and are bored with your color palette, then I suggest the following: 1) Make sure that any dress or shirt pattern has at least 75% or so in your colors 2) Use brighter colors as shoes, handbags & bracelets (not scarves or earrings, as they are too close to your face)

  • @Sbeth85 3) Use a lot of the colors in Soft Summer's palette that look the brightest..No, they aren't themselves very bright, but they will brighten your whole look...that's the point of using color!

  • What's the deal? To me she looks like an obvious Winter - because her hair is naturally (I assume) very dark. And even when coloured there is still a dramatic contrast between skin and hair - still very dark hair. So = Winter? She even look sbetter to me in the brighter, vivd colours, rathe rthan the pale blue, rose etc.

  • @lillybeth007 Thank you for your question. "The deal" is that Susan's hair & eyes in real life are not as dark as they appear on camera. TV & video alter lighting significantly, so they can make it confusing to you, the home viewer. There is a softness to both her hair & eyes that you can't see on the video. During Susan's in-person color analysis, she looked better across the board in Summer rather than Winter colors. Lastly, her base color had been darkened a tad just before the video.

  • @lillybeth007 Also, the lighting in the video itself is not (and never will be) equivalent to full spectrum daylight... which is the type of light used to really see the best color choices for an individual. The deciding factor in ALL color analysis is the visual effect of color on the skin. Yes, we factor in things like skin/hair/eye contrast, but I see a lot of variance in coloring with the True Summers. Quite fascinating to me, actually. Thanks again for your question!

  • Very well done. I'm disappointed I'm too far from you to get a color analysis session from you.
