Experimental Aircraft performs "semi super friends" live at the Flamingo Cantina in Austin, TX on 10/25/99.
This instrumental song is on Experimental Aircraft's 1999 self-titled, white CD.
The song was played a few times live (less than four times?) in 1999 and then was dropped from the band's live shows, definitely. It's really too bad, because in my opinion, it was one intoxicatingly trippy song. And it was Mark's bass effect that made this instrumental so magical. His bass notes exploded with wah-wah tones, drifting around the phasing, buzzing duo guitars and crisply tight drumming. Word is that Mark's effect pedal is of no more, so "semi super friends" lived a short, yet triumphant existence. And at least a clean studio version is on the CD release. But, the live versions were so special - such a rarity. Hope you dig this live YouTube version of it.
Note: Sorry for the low-fi analog 8mm video quality, but it was 1999 - pre affordable digital cams. However, I used a great external microphone at that time, so the audio is awesome, and that's the important thing.
