The Democrats do the SAME THING and last I checked Newt was the one who ran that.

Americans lost their freedom years ago but they are too busy trying to stay above water to notice.

@dangerouslytalented All regulations are arbitrary. That is the very nature of a regulation. One day something is completely ok to do, the next day, out of the blue comes some government decree that declares that thing wrong and justifies throwing you in jail for it. They may not be pointless in the sense they all have some convoluted agenda behind them, but they are in the sense they don't actually do any good.
BTW there has never ever been a period of deregulation here.
-
@Houshalter Completely arbitrary and pointless? Which ones do you fucking MEAN are arbitrary and pointless? They are not simply making up laws for the sake of making them up.
If you take a look at the laws and regulations that have BEEN written in America, they have been doing two things: Deregulating business and putting more regulations on actual people. This is bad enough, but with total deregulation of business, they would not NEED to control the government, they could make rules directly
-
@dangerouslytalented and again, if corporations want complete deregulation why do they donate little if any money to candidates who support that and tons on candidates and lobbyists who are for even more regulations? Why would it even be in their best interest to remove regulations when most of them protect them from competition?
Lastly why does it even matter considering 99% of the regulations we have are completely arbitrary and pointless?

Rick made baby Jesus cry.

@Houshalter No, he might not be directly pro-establishment, BUT, here is the important part, THAT DOES NOT MATTER, because 90% of what HE wants is EXACTLY what the corporate funded think tanks want: Complete deregulation.
-
@dangerouslytalented What evidence do you have? If Paul is so pro-establishment why does he receive little if any support from corporations, wealthy people, or even the mainstream media? Libertarians in general are almost complete ostracized from the establishment. The people in power don't want deregulation, they don't want an end to subsides and government handouts. If they did why do the spend so much effort getting people who support those things elected?
Santorum's been ranked one of the most corrupt senators.

@TheSWS3 i support none of the current candidates. giving Paul a chance can't hurt...or at least that's what we tell ourselves. this country is fubar'd as it sits now, and no president can change that by himself...it is going to take a massive change in the white house, congress, the courts, and the senate...and i don't see that happening any time soon, if ever.
cheers.
