Doom 64 was one of the most terrifying Doom games I've ever played. And not just because you felt cornered in many levels, but because the ambient music, the satanic imagery, the obvious, gory signs of torture, the hi-res sprites, all made me actually believe I was in hell! Doom 3 gave a similar experiances because of the environments, enemies, and vicious AI, but the ambience was not nearly as scary as Doom 64...Though you could tell they gave it a good shot at making it scary.
