I usually make 2 parts of sugar and 1 part of hot water. Less watery drinks, drinks need less sugar syrup this way.

That works as well -- 1:1 is easy to remember and the sugar dissolves quickly, but the exact ratio isn't that important. People tend to get caught up in trying to avoid "watering" drinks (not using enough ice, not shaking the drink, etc.) but they often forget that over half the volume of most liquors is water. Reducing the water in the simple syrup is minimal compared to the water already in all the rest of the ingredients (even the water content between limes will vary). Thanks for watching!
