@petrone2006rosario : Sorry to be slow responding to this. Yes, you're right, nobody wants to decentralize Europe, or to put them in their proper proportion to the rest of the world. A case of politics winning out over science.
@MrMrtiki : Yes, those "before Columbus" discoveries seem to have been numerous, with Vikings, Irish, and even Chinese apparently beating him to the Americas.
@OfficialLloydPye Oh wow 900+ yrs amazing --Yes forsure Mercator was first --Did you happen to watch or hear about a discovery of a rock formed kingdom in northeastern Canada that possibly was made by chinese armies 700 yrs before Leif Erickson routed his way thru here heard it on Discovery channel
@MrMrtiki : The Starchild died 900 years ago. No way to know its age at death, but it was not a child, it was an adult. And Lewis and Clark were long after Mercator concocted his map in the middle 1500s.
@offenwrong : You can find videos on Youtube about Pangea that show how the Earth is assumed to have looked when all the land was in one mass before breaking up into the configuration we have now. Such films are fascinating!
@keightley2011 There are a lot of different types of maps and I find it rather peculiar that if indeed you did take a geology class and maps were discussed at all that the teacher didn’t mention discrepancies in lay out and / or land mass. If you are telling the truth, which I doubt, then you must have had a very poor teacher. Oh by the way... I also doubt that you have all that many friends.
@OfficialLloydPye Maybe the real measurement started with Lois & Clark & Sacagoewea --maybe David Thompson --Oh ya Lloyd I was showing a friend your star child video so he could watch it he thought it was very cool , Sorry I forget did you mention how old you think the skull is it sure is unique looking .
@keightley2011 No thanks necessary... I was glad to help.
