  • Thanks so much for posting this link. I had seen bits and pieces of this speech by Sam Harris but this is the first time I've watched it all the way through. It really shows how thorough, intelligent and educated this man is.

  • My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Good stuff, have you seen any other lectures on that site that you'd recommend. I can't find a list of all the lectures, only short clips.

  • I haven't looked. Sorry.

  • Great, a quick time file.

Ok, i am going to have to install apple's quick time. Now when I run a video, a box will pop up asking me to pay for the professional release. Cancel. Now a box pops up telling me I am passing up a great program... please pay apple more money. CANCEL! Now it wants me to register the free version CANCEL!, but since I skip it... it asks every time. What a hassle.

Uh... can you post this in a format that works for the 95% of the world that doesn't use a mac?

  • If you look at the description box it gives more options. The windows media version does not work for me but try it. If not, there is also a mp3 audio file you can dl. Check the description box for guidance. Peace!

  • When Christians make '' verbal hell fire death threats '' then the Courts should give them ster warning not to do it again or face the consequences of being rehabilitated in Jail .

Parents and Preachers don't have the right to push '' psychological abuse '' upon the minds of fragile children and developing adults .

    Does anyone agree ?

  • You sound like an anti-intellectual bigot.

  • I agree. I was abused during my adoption to a xtian family. I was taught to "turn the other cheek" and other such religious doctrines of obedience.

  • I absolutely agree with you. Preaching hellfire and damnation is psychological abuse. It's a despicable thing to do to a child.

  • I've thought of that too. It seems to be more abusive than almost anything. Maimed for life!

  • I think that there are more atheists than the polls suggest, however I do know that quite a few religious people purchase these books in order to "sharpen" their defense against them.

    Which I find completely ludicrous.

I have a hard time understanding how any sane person can read Sam Harris and not reach the same logical conclusion. Or any of those authors for that matter. I find Harris in particular to be nothing less than sheer intellectual pleasure.

  • matrynblackburn1977: umm, i believe he meant to convey that in a slightly sarcastic tone. As in,

there must be more atheists than the polls suggest, and thats not necessarily a bad thing, hence "heathen" being in quotation marks.
