@samsdaddy0525 Then Saban trusted the wrong player, it still falls on OJ. So do you blame OJ for the interception @ 0:53? I sure blame the caved in pass pocket, and I blame OJ for allowing it to cave in. I often believe caved in pass pockets create interceptions more than other people believe they do.
@plntntvzn We will just have to peacefully disagree. The only thing I will say is O.J. was not calling the plays back then. I believe you could shift some of that blame to Lou Saban though he did help give the Bills three straight winning seasons in the mid 1970's.
@samsdaddy0525 I consider the Bills dropping from 5-2 to 5-5 totally on OJ. He could have and should have helped them win any one of those three games (their defense did their part) and they would have made the playoffs. There's something about watching America's Game 1973 and listening to Mercury Morris and Dick Anderson recalling Dolphin defenders yelling at the Bills in their game at Buffalo,"why do you keep giving it to OJ? Try and win the game".You know what I'm talking about
@plntntvzn So it is all O.J.'s fault in their losses and he had nothing to do with their wins, especially in 1973???
I won't give O.J. all the credit as he had a great offensive line but to say O.J. could never produce in the crunch is silly. The Bills were NEVER an elite team in the O.J. years and that is NOT his fault.
When Bills dropped from 5-2 to 5-5 in 1973, & missed playoffs for those 5 losses, their defense did not allow >17 points in any of those 3 losses, like this one.Forget blaming their defense. OJ would not help protect his QBs. @0:50-51, OJ decides to block NEITHER Bengal pass rusher and BOTH closed in on pass pocket that resulted in INT. @1:41, FB Braxton clears way, & LG MacKenzie takes it from there @ 1:43. Those two tried to do the same @1:59, but OJ could never produce to win games in crunch.
