he didn't sit to "think things out" - he already knew that activity was useless. He had deep and profound faith. He had a spiritual and metaphysical background, and plenty of meditation experience. He sat and waited until the Insight was given to Him. He knew that now he had to wait in wholehearted focussed earnestness. His aspiration had develped to a madimally heightened degree - it was now or never.
