Thank you so much for making this available! 1st of all, you are beautiful and I love your dreads. 2nd, I am a beginner who learns BEST by watching. 3rd, I really wanted to learn this style of hat because I am white and have a lot of hair that is long, fine and gets frizzy in cold dry weather. My oldest daughter is multiracial with good hair, but she uses a flat iron on it and doesn't like to get snow on it or it curls back up. This hat is perfect for both of us, and hello, rastalicious. :)

@Richiechalupa The ripples come from using different amounts of tension on different stitches. I would say you can try using a spray bottle of water to lightly mist the hat, then sit a bit of plastic then something heavy like a book on it and let it dry overnight. It's sort of like "ironing" without causing shrinkage. I hope that helps.

How do you make it flat and lay down after you finish it? My mom recently made me a tam for my dreads and it has ripples and kinda sticks up at the top of my forhead

Okay. Thank you Pinky even for your late reply. That's okay, I understand. I know you are a very busy women and it wasn't intentional. Just to conclude that I think ALL of your videos are incredible. I am one of your #1 fans. (smiles). Please, keep that positive energy coming. Peace Sis.
When i change colors do i cut the yarn that i finished with or do i stitch it in with the new color??
thanks

@careri28 you can do it either way. But even if you strand a bit of yarn into the first row after joining its best to cut it. Cut off a tail about 4 inches long or so, that should give you the room you need.

can i use triple crochet stitches instead of dc, to make the tam durable in the summer?

@utuber618 sorry it took me so long to reply. Yes, you can modify it to suit your needs. You will see along the way if it alters the overall outcome and then decide to so something like that on every other row or so to your tastes.

Pinky: Your notes say that for round 2 you need to do a Double Crochet in the same stitch, then 2 Half Double Crochet in the next stitch, but the vid says to do Double crochet all the way around. Just thought I'd let you know.
