Jeep sells lots of Wranglers, thanks to distinctive looks and their off-road reputation. But shortcomings in handling, braking, refinement, and comfort all detract during the daily drive.

  • All the things you said that wer wrong with it, is not why we buy wranglers.

  • When they showed the " off-road " portion, it didnt do well cause the person driving didnt know what he was doing, clearly. And it was a 4 door, the 2 door is better off roading.

  • HAHAHA He just floored it up that rock ledge. What the hell do expect?

  • Ha ha, this guy obviously has no idea how to drive offroad and not the slightest clue about the Jeep demographic. The spartan interior is a *selling point*, not a detraction.

Really, really has no idea how to offroad though. Wet, stock tires, slamming on the throttle instead of crawling like it was built to do, hopping everywhere losing traction.

Hey consumer reports, you lose all credibility when your "experts" obviously don't have a clue about the product applications.

  • @GuitarXZC Why didn't you get a Toyota or a Honda? Why did you buy a Rubicon? You don't know jack shit about Jeep's, and I doubt you own a Wrangler.

  • @GuitarXZC The Wrangler is noisy, bumpy, and rough on normal pavement. It only turns when going traveling less than 55mph. Please do yourself a favor and trade your Rubicon for a Toyota RAV4 or anything soft made in Japan. You won't every have problems getting grocery with those. Wrangler are for the unwashed mass who find slogging in mud as fun. They shun sleeping in hotels and choose to sleep in leaky tents under Gods starry sky. There are no soft mattress where they trek.

  • Anyone notice that for the jeep to be any good it needs defense from comment critics? Off-road the suspension is like a worn-out matress. All you hear is rattling and you feel every pebble and bump on the road. Plus, its lack of power shows on the road. Take a Honda or a Toyota. You will never need to get a specific model for it to be any good. These are reliable. I've had my Rubicon for 4 months and it has been taken to be fixed at least 8 times. All in all the worst car I've driven.

  • First: It's a jeep, not a cadillac SUV.

Second: That jeep saved his lame driving skills and got him up the hill with cheap slick tires.

  • geeze, has this guy ever picked up a hammer in his life? Or is he always this wussified?

I find my 2011 Wrangler unbelievably comfortable when I drove it 1250 miles to Utah last summer, and its offroad ability will leave anything CR rates as "good", in the dust, literally.

  • The traction issue wasn't the jeep...but maybe your tiers? =P

  • Testing a Wrangler on a slalom course is like testing a Ferrari on an off-road trail. They are specific purpose machines with compromises for everyday use. BTW, CS doesn't drive off-road very often as shown by very sloppy driving up that rocky pitch.
