Cockatoo for Thump186

Thump asked for a bird and we jokingly told him he could have Max. The joke being that Max HATES MEN! Plus we aren't looking to get rid of any birds, sorry Thump186. Please everyone, check out your local rescues!!! They have great birds that need to be adopted.

hahahah max is the man! thats hilarious! the dobe is surely looking good, shes starting to look more like a dobe should :)  it was sad to see her so thin when you first brought her home. her previous owner should stand trial...

LOL, yes! Max IS the man! We love him to death! And I know what you're feeling when you say that about our Dobe's (Ruger's) previous owner! I wish these people could experience the exact pain they inflict on these poor animals! Have you seen the video called "SCBR: Braveheart" on YT? If there was ever a time I've wanted to kill another human, THIS WAS IT! The parrot was rescued but not before irreversible damage was done. Read the description AND the comments.

I really wish I could help you guys! Don't you live in Maine or somewhere way over there? We are fostering a bird right now that needs a home, he's a smaller parrot called a Mitred Conure and he barks all day long like a Chihuahua, lol. He also has an incredible appetite for human EARS! He's a real character though. He and Max are from the same rescue.

Have you two thought of checking into a local parrot rescue? The price is usually very reasonable and those birds need love too!

Funny you should bring up Jurassic Park because I've always said that the scene where the two Velociraptors are coming through the door to the kitchen, look and act just like our two Sun Conures when they get testy with each other, lol. Max and Phoenix are often referred to as Pterodactyls around here, lol.

Thank You!!! We got him from a rescue and he's absolutely great! Yes he "can" be loud but he keeps quiet most of the week and then he has to go through a spell where he needs to "hear himself" for a while, lol. Considering how loud and obnoxious Cockatoos are known to be, I know we got VERY LUCKY with him! The fact that he hates men is just something that happens with parrots. They tend to "pick" a person to love and all other people can go, well, you know where, lol.

LOL, I'm guessing he's not really wanting a parrot (or at least Max) anymore? These birds are absolutely beautiful but if they don't like a person, it can easily mean a trip to the hospital for stitches!!! And something most people are NOT aware of is that a parrot will pick a favorite person and "maybe" one or two others in the family. If you aren't picked as a favorite, you're toast, lol.
