Why do you measure them? If it's God's will to demonstrate the faith, I don't imagine God would care whether the snake was "37 1/2" or "38" inches, is size is important.... (Hmm) . Only reason I see to measure one is to see if it will take a 10" or 12" skillet to fry 'em up. Just kidding, we always cut 'em up into finger size chunks, the Cajun way, easier to spit out the rib bones which are not attached. Yes, they eat pretty good, maybe save someones life that is hungry but not their soul....

@91fatboy51 It doesn't save your soul we have never believed that. It is the blood of Jesus Christ. This is for the ones that believe in the power of God. People say they believe in His power but you dont see any evidence of it. In the book of James he said, show me your faith without your works and I will show you faith by my works. It is not for everyone, only for those that believe. It is a wonderful thing to experience to look death in the eye and not be afraid of it.

snake handleing is not listed among the gifts.You put your children and selves in danger. Why? I know alot of life has been lost over this practice' Good luck

@needtolooselots There is no evidence to suggest Jesus was married, yet christians do it. Except for Peter, none of the other apostles were married. Yet Christians do it. The Bible says that women should have long hair yet they walk around with bobbed hair like boys. The point is that snake handlers do what the scriptures ask. Other christians don't. So who then is really tempting the Lord? Those who follow his word, or those who don't.?

People keep using Acts 8:25 "thou shalt not tempt the lord thy God". Has anyone ever thought that if God puts it in your heart to pick up a serpent and you say "no" to Him, while throwing His own scriptures back in His face" that it is actually "tempting the Lord"? I hear all kinds of cry baby excuses from people who smash what sign followers believe. Yet the cry babies won't pick up a serpent because they actually doubt the Lord.

I am a gospel singer. and i couldn't handle a snake in church, but i would never judge those that do. Worship how you see fit in Gods name. But honestly i couldn't pick up a corn snake either. I run from a black snake. But God bless everyone that takes up the serpent and those who don't. God knows our hearts.
