  • Continued: Initial trials of robotic hysterectomy reported an increased rate as compared to laparoscopic hysterectomy of up to 1% but with improvements of both energy and closure most recent reports are reporting rates much lower (0.2-0.5% at worst). This is similar to rates with other types of hysterectomy. It’s important to remember that any surgery has a small rate of complications, no matter the method and that patients should educate themselves to all options before having any surgery.

  • Dr. Mona Orady, Henry Ford Health System: The complication that this user is referring to is vaginal cuff dehiscence, which can occur with any total hysterectomy. The most common cause is having intercourse too soon after surgery (despite instruction to abstain for 8 weeks post-operatively) but is repairable most commonly.

  • Biggest mistake of my life my vaginal cut opened up during sex which now caused me to have c section cut plus be sewed again vaginal now have to wait four months to have sex again afraid this may happen again
