So what.

I believe all are arrogant to God and the Gospel message is this, Come out of darkness and into the Light; The Light of Love, the Lord Jesus Christ. Until we get a true revelation of God even in the minutest amount, we do not see our arrogance or sin to God. God is a...(tremble, for real, right now in the depths of your soul)...GOD IS A HOLY GOD!!! We DO NOT get it but that is part of the Journey. To grow from faith to faith and glory to glory in Christ, Praise the Lord!

Not every believer is arrogant toward God, they should not be told to burn out their eyes to see if they are. Can you imagine the glorified Church being told as arrogant before the world and the next message is come join us? Be clothed with humility means not to call ALL arrogant because you are. If Paul did not call the body of Christ arrogant I don't think Piper should, but it sounds like the humble thing to say Ha!

The idea that one can be assured of one's perseverance in the faith before the final judgment is not the Patristic Faith. Since one cannot be assured of this, neither can have an absolute security in being saved eternally. Paul prays for departed believers to 'find mercy' on that day. Paul also insists that justification, sanctification, glorification are all one piece, and that to secure one's election, one must make one's calling and election sure.

@godmakessense How is a call to examine your life as a Christian a reason to doubt your salvation?

If a Christian is living the way Piper describes in this video, they are surely deceived and have no reason to believe they are saved.
Beautiful. We are conditioned to glorify the human self, the human self is never wrong, the human self is always entitled, the human self has a right, the human self is self-sufficient, the human self should never be allowed to hunger or to thirst - & so it does not hunger, it does not thirst. Every "perceived need" is met & yet it dies from lack of nourishment.

@Cyprian3 I agree with you. Just because we are saved by the grace of God does not mean we are free to sin. Arrogance towards God is sin because it the breaking of the first commandment. Ourself as our own god. We are slaves to ourselves. And as Paul said, "do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey...." (Romans 6:16) Also, "Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!" (Romans 6:15)
