  • Very good, but it would be perfect an improve in the ejecting device, :) because the hard drive may leave out demagnetized but ugly damaged by a strike.

  • i think smashing is the more fun way to kill a harddrive :P

  • I had to get rid if a hard drive a few years ago and I had to make sure that nothing could be read off of it so I, shit it with a shot gun a few time, then soaked it in gas and burned it, then smashed it into so mant pieces, and then spread the pieces into several dumpsters throughout my city.

  • This is the best way to erase data. It's even recommned by FBI

  • The price of a degausser: 3000 $ +

    The price of a hammer: 3$ -

The smile on your face while hitting the hard drive with the hammer and 2997 $ in your pocket: priceless!

  • I hope you all know this doesn't just erase data...it ruins the drive. Nothing can be written on the drive ever again.

This is for businesses who have lots and lots of hard drives either in a server, or hot-swap hard drives in computers...and have sensitive data on the drive.

When you dispose of these drives, you do not want one BYTE of data to be recoverable.

  • when i read degausser i thought of a gauss gun so i thought it would launch the hdd at a incredible speed into a brick wall or something.

  • Just too bad it has no effect on SSD-disks. Mechanical shredding and incinerating the remains is the only safe way to go, independent of media.

  • Nah, just throw it in a volcano.

  • @hitachi088 probably!!

  • @electronicwiz1

maybe a mini microwave , of a super big Electromagnet ...

  • vou parar de perder tempo formatando!
