May be a surprise to you, but HM Queen Elizabeth II remains Head of State and Queen of 16 countries (including the UK) out of the 53 in the Commonwealth. The countries of which HM is head of state include the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, several Carribean countries and several south pacific countries.

As I've said, I think our system should be reformed (I've already mentioned that the powers of the PM should be reduced). So you're comment about still being content with feudalism is not valid.

Most parliamentary democracies have a history of free and stable governments, whereas most constitutional republics have a history of military dictatorship. According to the Democracy Index, 9 out of the top 10 most democratic nations are parliamentary democracies.

When I said parliamentary democracy is better than any other system of government, I was only including the systems currently in use.

I am familiar with the concept of separation of powers, but I don't think separation between the legislature and executive is necessary or even desirable for a democratic system. It's a lot easier to remove the executive from power in a parliamentary system than any other governmental system. That's a very important safeguard to prevent democracy becoming a dictatorship.

What governmental system do you think is better than parliamentary democracy?
