Early interview with Jude Narita plus excerpts from Coming Into Passion / Song For a Sansei, her award-winning one-woman play—ground-breaking theater that challenged, then broke Asian stereotypes. She explores the lives of different Asian women in a theatrical journey of emotions, memories, and dreams — with the final embracing of one's own heritage.
Her characters include; a Newscaster, a Vietnamese bar girl, a Filipino mail-order bride, a storyteller who tells about a young girl caught in the bombing of Hiroshima, a Nisei woman (2nd generation Japanese American) who was put in the relocation camps during World War II, a Cambodian woman adjusting to life in America, and a teenage troublemaker from a family of high achievers.
