Entering Astoria, Oregon in June of 1990 the Battleship encounters greenpeace protestors hanging from a bridge en route to the Portland Rose Fesitval. I remember watching the New Jersey as it arrived in Portland at Cathedral Park. Everyone was at the edge of the dock down there, and the wake of the ship was so big that even going as slow as it was, it washed water over the dock. That was so badass.

I was on the ship when that happend. We actually were stopped and our Captain at the time I think was Tucker although it could have been Katz asked the authorities if the protestors were breaking the law and when he was informed they were tresspassing he gave the order to keep going. Man did those guys scramble up those lines!!
