Timeline of the construction of the arch on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge over the Trinity River. Most of these were taken from the 49th floor of Fountain Place and the others were taken from different points off Beckley Avenue between Commerce and Continental.

  • The Facebook page for the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge "The Madge" would like to add this video to their page.

  • and the crane who helped build this bridge was the so famous BIG RED??

The job was contracted out to the team that always does his projects. Again, this has been in the works for years and was in motion before the recession. No one complained until News 8 said something. That was pure instigation. They could have said something when the public bid was PUBLIC years ago.

  • @rantanamo If you say so, but they could have at least bought American steel for the bridge aside from Italian, that would help with American jobs.

The river isn't puny. Its only puny near downtown because its been engineered that way. But the reason they want cable stayed and suspension bridges is because they will be creating 2 lakes that go under these bridges. And you're talking about current economic conditions. This bridge was funded 4 years ago. I know some just care about only their own home, but this is one phase of a large project for the city. Its already doing part of its job, and that's to create dialogue

  • Idk, this bridge is going to be cool and all, but it just seems ridiculous to me. Why do we need a suspension bridge over the puny Trinity river? Not to mention the fact that our current economic conditions are terrible. This seems more about vanity than purpose.
