this is a requested tutorial on how to make a ik chain point in the direction desired . I have added my own twist to just having a floating dummy and created a circle spline for the dummy to track position off. This is a good base to create alot of cool effects with that i have taught my self over the last year.

Any questions mail me :)

plus if you watch this before i put up the notes dont complain i am getting to it :D

  • Is it possible to make the chain more flexible and react to gravity

  • @MicrosoftsourceCode yeah there are tons of ways of doing it . you could link the bones to a spline or a mesh that is effected to gravity

  • @liquidbear Great. How do I get gravity to work on an object. I am using Max 7 and I have not yet seen a decent tutorial on gravity. Is their some option or fly out that lets you apply gravity to a selected object? I am trying to make a chain link act natural while constrained to 2 moving objects. Once I can do that I want to export the animation and bones to the IMVU previewer for an action pose.

  • @MicrosoftsourceCode its reactor gravity then link it to the mesh you are using to set up bones and viola

  • WOW... I NEVER would of thought of that. Nobody I know would of either. You made it look so easy too. Very very nice, thank you very very much. I will definitely contact you in the near future with my finished animation. (if there's no more problems like this one) Hopefully you'll like it :-)

  • i would love to se your final animation . I hope this is clear and easy to follow i just recorded my first attempt :D and it seemed to work fine ... any other questions feel free to ask
