my friends and I did something like this in highschool one day. during lunch we sat at the top of the stairs and cheered for anyone that came up them, clapping and saying they were awesome and stuff. we got a lot of weird looks but I still remember one girl stopping and saying "Thank you, I really needed that" and it just made me feel so happy, I totally made a stranger feel better when they needed it.
