Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz, Galápagos Islands. I filmed these images less than 24 hours after the tsunami that hit Japan on 11th March 2011 reached the Islands, about 14 thousand km away. I think that what makes these images remarkable is that the water is flowing "uphill" from left to right. The ocean is on the left side of the screen, while the local river is on the right. However, the strength of the freak wave generated by the tsunami is such that the water appears to flow uphill. I had never seen anything like that. Luckily, thanks to an effective evacuation plan, there were no casualties on the Islands, only minor damage to buildings and infrastructure.
