HBO's The WIRE, a music video of the final scene (montage) from the last season of the HBO hit television series.

About the Music

The music is "Shine" from the 90's defunct band Junkhouse. The original music, "Way down in the hole" (versions by both Steve Earle and Blind Boys of Alabama) were both great, but I just thought this song fit well for the final scene. If you enjoy this music by Junkhouse, you may also want search YouTube for Lee Harvey Osmond.

About The Wire (description from Wikipedia):

The Wire is an American television drama series set and produced in Baltimore, Maryland. Created, produced, and primarily written by author and former police reporter David Simon, the series was broadcast by the premium cable network HBO in the United States. The Wire premiered on June 2, 2002 and ended on March 9, 2008, with 60 episodes airing over the course of its five seasons.

Each season of The Wire focuses on a different facet of the city of Baltimore. They are, in order: the drug trade, the port, the city bureaucracy, the school system, and the print news media. The large cast consists mainly of character actors who are little known for their other roles. Simon has said that despite its presentation as a crime drama, the show is "really about the American city, and about how we live together. It's about how institutions have an effect on individuals, and how...whether you're a cop, a longshoreman, a drug dealer, a politician, a judge [or] lawyer, you are ultimately compromised and must contend with whatever institution you've committed to."

Despite never winning any major television awards, The Wire has frequently been cited by critics as one of the greatest television series of all time. The show is recognized for its realistic portrayal of urban life, artistic ambitions, and uncommonly deep exploration of sociological themes.

  • You ruined this by not leaving the Blind Boys of Alabama's version of "Way Down In The Hole," in the clip.

  • @TMccord It's all in the game.

  • @Flavario

    Haha fair enough

  • i want the wire back

  • @zimzima888 Dont forget that Sydnor becomes mcnulty(due to wanting to do good police work after the stanfield case). Carver is also lieutenant which is where daniels was at the beginning of the show. It is also hinted at the show when daniels realizes carver was a snitch that real police work is what matters, not rank, which Daniels proves nearing the end of the show when he wants clean stats. Hopefully Carver doesnt fall victim to just wanting to move up.

  • @ 1:17 The Greek is probably saying to himself, "I really miss Joe and Frank right now."

  • I love the way at the end all the characters from the later seasons start becoming characters from the start, for example Dukie becomes bubbles, Mike becomes Omar. Everything stays the same because the street never changes. On that note I like the way Marlo becomes the Stringer Bell that Stringer Bell always wanted to be before he was killed and then realizes that being the Marlo he was is the highest the street will let him go. Sounds confusing but makes sense if you think about it. Great show

  • @johngoo343 no- cuz in season 3 marlo says "its ur turn girl'' then she does drive by on back of bike...

  • @magellanphone You come at the king, you best not miss.
