A short documentary on the oral history of the American chestnut tree before and after the chestnut blight pandemic spread throughout the eastern United States in the early 20th century. Tennessee and Kentucky residents share their early memories of the uses, appearance, and cultural impact of the once abundant tree at a time when decades of research are culminating in hopes of restoring the American chestnut to its native woodland habitat in the near future.
Nicely done, so many people don't understand how much was lost from the southern mountains when the chestnuts died. Thank you!

The chinese Chestnut trees are immune because in China there's two kinds of Chestnut Blight. A good kind and a bad kind, and the good kind kills the bad kind, and when the blight came to the US it was only the bad kind and not the good kind.
